Chairrail

A traditional wood architectural element horizontally oriented usually somewhere around wainscot height, chair rail trim divides top and bottom sections of wall often with a different design or color on each. Chair rail height is subjective so there is no set standard and different heights can be used for various effects. Chairrail lends a sophisticated air to a room especially when combined with ceiling crown molding.
