How To Measure For Arched Millwork

Before you can create a template for the manufacture of a custom curved molding or arch top casing, you must first have already installed the window or door jamb.

Follow these steps:

Obtain a stiff piece of cardboard larger in both dimensions than the jamb opening.

Have a helper hold the cardboard flat against the outside of the jamb opening.

Carefully trace the inside of the opening with a sharply pointed marker.

Write all of the following information on the template:

Customer/Job Name

Purchase Order Number

Material

Quantity

Specify reveal (standard is 1/4")
